The Mount Roberts aerial tramway located just south of downtown Juneau has operated since 1996. Mount Roberts is 1,164 m (3,819 feet) tall, and the tram takes 6 minutes to ascend or descend. The two cabins are connected by a 2.4 km (7,875 foot) cable 35mm (1.4 ins) thick. Just ONE cable?

Hidden in the car park building, we found the city library. Free WiFi and, anyway, we LOVE libraries! !

The Juneau-Douglas City Museum on the corner of 4th and Main streets. The 1951 building was, originally, the Juneau Memorial Library. It became the museum in the 1980s. The museum includes items relating to gold mining, hydropower, skiing, outdoor recreation, fishing, politics and city history.

The Alaska Fishermen's Building is a place where local fishermen can meet, store equipment, & conduct business
The building has facilities & resources to help local commercial fishermen.

The Alaska State Capitol building. It houses the Alaska Legislature, and the Governor & Lieutenant Governor of Alaska. Building started in1929, and it opened on February 14, 1931.

The Governor's Mansion.

Built in 1893, this is St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church. We were shown around by a very friendly priest, but were not permitted to take photos inside.

The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Fifth Street in Juneau. A church was built in on this site in 1886 and was replaced by this cathedral in 1910. It is considered to be the smallest cathedral in North America.

The Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Gold Street in Juneau. Built in 2009 to replace an earlier church that was built in 1896 but burned down in March of 2006.

While in Juneau, we visited Judge Wickersham's house. This is one of the views from the house.

Built in 1898 on a ridge overlooking Juneau, he and his wife bought it in 1928. He died in 1939.
