Northeast Harbor, Mount Desert Island, Maine

The next three pictures show the rather attractive Saint Mary's by the Sea Episcopal Church in North-East Harbor.

Built in 1902, it is one of only three commissions by Maine architect Harry Vaughn, and the only one executed in stone.

Most of the funding for the church came from the many wealthy summer residents in the area.
