Dawn as we head towards our anchorage in Douglas, Isle of Man. There is no dock for larger ships so we have to anchor in Douglas Bay.

One of the excursions that we wanted to do in Douglas was to ride a portion of the Isle of Man Railway.

Here we are in Santon railway station the second stop from Douglas on the way to Castletown.

The train meandered through the countryside of the Isle of Man.

Arriving in Castletown to be greeted by a small group in traditional dress.

Our engine; number10. Built in 1905 by Beyer, Peacock & Co., she was named for the railway company's then director George Henry Wood.

The Tiffin Tea Room, as it was wwhen we visited. It seems to have become the Vintage Tea Rooms, and looked very different. Now it appears to have gone altogether.

We had a lovely time here with nice food, friendly staff and reasonable prices.

Castle Rushen is one of the best maintained medieval castles in the U.K.

Construction started during the late 12th and early 13th centuries. Development continued up to the 16th century.

Born in Marown on the Isle of Man in 1771, Captain John Quilliam as first lieutenant on HMS Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar. Though impressed into the Royal Navy, in 1794, to midshipman, then to lieutenant. After the victory at Trafalgar, he was promoted to Captain and placed in command of HMS Ildefonso. After his retirement, he became a Member of the House of Keys.
