On earlier trips, the ship had to anchor and take us in by tender. This is the new "dock" that permits us to walk off. Much easier!

There are very few permanent residents in Icy Strait Point as it opens only when a cruise ship arrives.

The hub of Icey Strait Point is the restored Hoonah Trading Company. Built in 1912, it was the first cannery in the area.

A recreation of the area where the salmon were prepared. Fortunately, they did not incorporate "Smellerama" in the display; it was bad enough just looking.

After spending some time in Icy Strait Point, and buying a few souvenirs, we headed off to walk into Hoonah; about 2.5 km (about 1.6 miles)..

Always try to take pictures of my favorite "weed"; Rosebay Willow Herb (UK) or Fireweed (US).
