Russian Bishop's House, Sitka, Alaska

The Russian Bishop's House; completed in 1842 when Sitka was Russian and known as New Archangel. The diocese included the area from California to Siberia. It fell into such an abysmal state of decay that the Russian Orthodox Church closed it in 1969. The National Park Service acquired the property in 1973, and decided to restore it to how it was in 1853. They have done an incredible job.
