Tracy Arm Fjord and the Sawyer Glaciers

First sighting of an iceberg in the distance.

A very long shot of the iceberg.

Looks like a glacier high up in the mountains.

Just heading into Tracy Arm Fjord, showing the forests and water falls.

Now a sequence of pictures showing our passage through the early part of the fjord.

Some of these cliffs are 460 to 600 meters (1,500 to 2,000 feet) high, and drop dramatically straight down to sea level.

Some of the mountains in the distance are well over 2,000 meters (6,500 feet) high.

Here, we are starting to get closer to the glaciers. The level of forestation has decreased, and we are starting to see more icebergs.

Our first glimpse of the Sawyer Glacier at the end of the 48 km (30 mile) long Tracy Arm Fjord.

We met up with the National Geographical ship the Sea Bird.

Photographs just do not seem to do justice to the range of blues in the ice.
