10 Pound Island Lighthouse

Cape Ann Light Station - Thacher Island, MA

Thacher Island, and the twin Cape Ann Lights, are in the distance on the extreme right of this picture.

The original light was established in 1771. The current lighthouses were built in 1861.

Originally fitted with 1st order Fresnel lenses, the South Light was automated in 1980, and now houses a VRB-25 beacon. The North light was deactivated in 1932, but re-lit with a 200mm optic in 1989 as a private guide to navigation.
