Prospect Harbor Point Lighthouse, ME

Access to the lighthouse is rather limited due to the adjacent United States Navy satellite operations station.

The original lighthouse was built in 1850 with a rubble-stone tower. The current wood frame & shingle structure dates to 1891.

After brief service, the light was deactivated in 1859. It was brought back into service in 1870.

The current tower and keeper's house date to 1891, while the brick oil house dates to 1905. The light was automated in 1934, and the Fresnel lens was replaced by modern optics in 1951.

A fifth-order Fresnel lens was installed in the lantern room in 1856. The light was changed at that time from fixed white to a white flash once a minute.

The lamp appears to be a Pharos FA-250, though I am not certain. The lighthouse continues to function as an active aid to navigation.
