Our first sighting of the Pumpkin Island Lighthouse from the village of Eggemoggin in Maine.

The lighthouse became operational on New Years Day, 1855.

The lighthouse was decommissioned in 1933, and in 1934, Pumpkin Island was sold to George Harmon from Bar Harbor for the princely sum of $552.

The lighthouse received one of the first Fresnel lenses to be used in Maine; a fifth order lens. Mounted in the seventeen foot tower, it was 27 feet above the mean high tide level.

The National Register of Historic Places listed Pumpkin Island Light Station on February 1, 1988.
