Finally found some parking in Wood's Hole, and walked back through the town to find somewhere for lunch.

Decided to have lunch with Captain Kidd.

In fact, we ate here on two separate occasions, several years apart.

First visit was pretty good service and food at reasonable prices. Second time was below average food and service while significantly more expensive. There will not be a third time.

Built in 1929, the tower and garden were both gifts from Frances Crane Lillie to St Joseph's Church.

The tower and gardens are located on Millfield Street in Woods Hole right next to Eel Pond, on a small plot of land about 190 feet by 25 feet (58.5 mts x 7.7 mts).

The bells, cast in England, were named for two Catholic scientists. The larger, lower, bell is named Mendel for Gregor Mendel, the monk and geneticist, and the smaller, upper, bell is called Pasteur after Louis Pasteur.

St. Joseph Church was built between 1881 and 1882 on a parcel of land donated by Joseph Story Fay. He also donated two parcels of land on Millfield Street in 1913 and 1918 on which the Angelus Bell Tower was built.

Finally found some parking in Wood's Hole, and walked back through the town to find somewhere for lunch.
