Three women shared the Stone Cottage at Val Kill: Eleanor Roosevelt, Marian Dickerman and Nancy Cook.

Dickerman and Cook lived there full time from 1926, while Eleanor Roosevelt had her own room, but rarely stayed over.

Eleanor moved out of the Stone Cottage and used the Val-Kill Industries building after she had it rebuilt in 1936. Following FDR's death in 1945, she lived there full time.
