The Aksla view point from which there is a panoramic view of the town center, and the islands that comprise Alesund. We did not have the time go up there, but you can walk the 418 steps up from the Town Park, or take a City Train to Fjellstua.

The brown building to the left is Peter Spjelkavik A/S Shipping & Marine Supplier, the white building is the Hotel Brosundet, and the ochre building is the Hotel Bryggen. The waterway separates the islands of Aspøy and Nørvøya; two of the 7 islands that comprise Alesund.

Designed by Sverre Knudsen, the Alesund Church was built in 1909 to replace the original church, built in 1855, that was destroyed by the great Ålesund fire in 1904.

Peder Knudsen lived from 1819 to 1863. He was a violinist, organist, composer and arranger. In 1859 he became the first organist of Ålesund Church. This memorial was erected by the church in 1948.

A World War 2 Memorial in the grounds of Alesund Church. Sculpted in granite, it represents a family who have lost someone in the war. It stands about 2.5 meters (8 feet) tall. The inscription reads "De Falne Till Minne (In Memory of the fallen) 1940 to 1945.
