The town has mountains on two sides, the Hardangerfjord to the north-west and Eidfjordvatnet, or Lake Eidfjord, to the south-east. At 179 kilometres long, or about 112 miles, the Hardangerfjord is the fourth longest fjord in the world.

We encountered this strange collection of rocks and boulders that were probably left behind by a glacier in the distant past.

The north wall of the Lutheran Old Eidfjord Church (Eidfjord gamle kyrkje) on the outskirts of Eidfjord. Built around 1309, it was in regular use up until 1981 when the new Church was built.

This spider was every bit as big & terrifying as it looks!
