Brenton Point National Park

Brenton Point lies midway along Ocean Drive, and provides spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and Narragansett Bay.

The English Governor William Brenton owned the land in the 17th century, when the area was known as Hammersmith after the area in London from which he originated.

The Portugese Discovery Monument at Brenton Point. It pays homage to the Portugese navigator Miguel Corte-Real. He disappeared around 1502 while on an expedition to find his older brother, Gaspar, who had also disappeared on a voyage to the Americas.
